Minneapolis, Twin Cities metro

Minneapolis glam metal band formed in 1985 that swept the 1986 Minnesota Music Awards metal honors and made three albums for Jive.

Slave Raider formed in Minneapolis in 1985, fronted by singer Chainsaw Caine, with guitarists Lance Sabin and Nicci Wikkid, bassist Letitia Rae and drummer The Rock. The band was known for over-the-top antics, heavy makeup and glam metal lyrics, and the original lineup opened for Ratt and Poison. In 1986 Slave Raider won all four heavy metal honors at the Minnesota Music Awards. On Jive Records the band released Take the World by Storm in 1986, What Do You Know About Rock 'N Roll? in 1988 and Bigger, Badder and Bolder in 1990. Make Some Noise was used in the 1988 film License to Drive, and the title track of the second album was on the soundtrack of A Nightmare on Elm Street 5. Jive dropped the band after the third album and Slave Raider split soon after. The original lineup has reunited now and then for shows billed as "slave raiding room only."
