Podcast guestGordy Nelson
Bassist and high-harmony singer for Rhino who also subs around the scene and is starting Faking Benjamin, a Breaking Benjamin tribute.
Gordy Nelson started out singing in choir, pops choir and barbershop quartets, and played stand-up bass in fifth grade orchestra. Gordy bought a first guitar, a BC Rich, at B-Sharp Music in Northeast Minneapolis as a high school senior, and moved to bass when a band needed a fill-in one day. After playing 80s rock in the St. Cloud band Pandemic, Gordy auditioned for Rhino, where the band wanted to hear singing as much as bass, and has been with them about eight and a half years. Rhino was started by Eric in 2003 and plays six to eight shows a month. In December 2022 Rhino toured for the troops, playing two shows in Bahrain, three in Kuwait and one at Guantanamo Bay. Gordy was part of the house band at the Ziggy's jam for a while and subbed for five different bands last year.
