Podcast guestMaxwell Locke
Young progressive rock drummer who plays Rush and Dream Theater at local open jams, interviewed with Bob Locke.
Maxwell Locke got a first drum set at three and started lessons at six at Rogers School of Music with teacher Russ Heydorn. When the basics got boring, a playlist of older music led Maxwell to Rush's Limelight, and after learning it from a transcription Maxwell moved on to tougher progressive songs. Neil Peart is Maxwell's biggest drum hero, for playing what fits the song. Maxwell has played Rush and Dream Theater songs at the open jams at Route 47, Shaw's and Ziggy's in Stillwater and Hudson, reads charts while playing, and practices at least 30 minutes a day. Maxwell records at Split Willow Studio in Sartell, with video by Bo Allen Productions out of Duluth, and is looking for collaborations with other musicians.
